Depth of field is a simple technique that can have a huge impact on your image.  Used well, depth of field cleverly directs the eye to exactly where the photographer wants it to go.  Scenes with repetition are brilliant for depth of field shots.  This image by Diploma of Digital Photography student, Mick Mauldon is a classic example.  Mick has set his camera to just the right aperture setting to make it work, and to make it more interesting, he has chosen the second plate to focus on.  As planned, this focus point puts part of the foreground as well as the background out of focus.

Well done Mick, and thank you for allowing us to share your image.
